Default Poly Leaders

Hello,

I have alway stuck to floating / sink-tip / sinking lines but I fancy trying poly leaders this year.

Any veiws on them and what brand / lengths etc. are the best?

Cheers.

Hi Mathew.

I use the airflo polly leaders all the time.
They come in 5' or 10'. and 7 different densities.
Which ones you use is all dependant on river conditions and where you want to fish the fly in regards depth.
It's a case of trial and error I'm afraid.
I bought the full set in a wallet as it works out a little cheaper than buying them all individually.

I also use a selection of Airflo polyleaders at 5ft in different densities and found them to be very good. Got them from John Norris at Penrith.

IM THINKING ABOUT BUYING AND TRYING POLYLEADERS ALSO, AIRFLO DO THEM IN 5/10FT, I TAKE IT THE 10FT LEADERS WILL BE HARDER TO CAST AS THEY ARE NOT PART OF THE LINE AND ADD 10FT ONTO WHAT YOUR CASTING, EXCUSE MY IGNORANCE. IS IT SAFE TO ASUME ALSO THE DEEPER THE RIVER YOUR FISHING THE LONGER THE LEADER YOU WOULD USE?? WOULD YOU STILL USE THE SAME LENGTH OF MONO FROM LOOP TO FLY???

I wouldnt expect Airflo to tell you what BS it can turn over if it was higher and thicker than the core material. Having just measured a core it is 0.40mm which comes in around 20lb-24lb depending on who makes it.

I havent got any ex strong to measure, sorry.
